Located in the heart of a vibrant riverfront urban neighbourhood, a chic and ultra modernly designed boutique hotel recently opens its doors.
Alt Hotel is Group Germain’s second hotel in Calgary located in East Village, a community that offers beautiful views and convenient access to the Bow River and downtown.
More than just another hotel in the city, Alt Hotel was inspired by the neighbourhood’s industrial past. This eastern portion of downtown Calgary consisted of the earliest settled land Fort Calgary and was a mixture of residential, commercial and industrial development. With an investment of over $300 million in infrastructure and upgrades by the city, this community was recently revitalized with new roads, sidewalks, plazas, residential condos and much much more.
This vibrant energy now surrounds the hotel with an abundance of access to activities from riverside strolls, biking and shopping to the national music centre, historical buildings and fabulous patio equipped eateries by renown chefs.
Alt Hotel hosts two exciting restaurants. CHIX Eggshop by long time hotel collaborators Connie DeSousa and John Jackson co-chefs and owners of CHARCUT and CHARBAR at the nearby historical Simmons building. CHIX Eggshop is fast-fine diner, a quirky, nostalgic counter service-only breakfast and lunch spot with super-hip craft beverages and cocktails. Jackson says CHIX Eggshop will be a hotspot that fits into East Village’s liveliness and is a concept that will further evolve and enhance the city’s highly invested in community. DeSousa says it will be a great spot for locals and visitors of Calgary to experience and is a reflection of the Alt Hotel brand’s unconventional and unmatched features and services.
Also now open EIGHT and NUPO by chef Darren MacLean, known for Calgary’s Shokunin as well as one of the star chefs on Netflix’s The Final Table.
